Hi, I’m Val Weston!

I’m a digital photographic artist based in Silver City, New Mexico.

Welcome to my art portfolio. Pressing the shutter is just the first step in my process of creating photographic art. I use digital processing and painting techniques to reinterpret my images in a way that informs us of the essence of the shot rather than its surface reality.

My subjects span the themes of life that connect us all—from the nature around us to the world we’ve built. I’ve traveled North America capturing images in my travels. I use those images to create artwork that I hope you find compelling.

In other parts of my life, I’m also a professional photographer, an avid motorcyclist, a native plant gardening advocate, and blogger at Val in Real Life where this company began.

Val in Real Life LLC also operates Propane and Bourbon, Sierra Mountain Passes, and Southwest Art Towns that I run with my partner, J. Brandon.
